Global electronics and connectivity major Molex recently announced its manufacturing operations expansion in Hanoi. As per the statement, a new 16,000 square meter facility is being added to the existing installation, which will bring around 200 new job opportunities in the advanced high-tech manufacturing sector. It is noteworthy that the new facility is laced with solar installation in order to reduce the organisation’s carbon footprint.
The Illinois-headquartered company established its first facility in the Vietnam in 2007. Molex CEO Joe Nelligan said: “Molex has operated in Vietnam for 15 years and this expansion represents our long-term commitment to the country and the community. Expanding our manufacturing footprint in Hanoi gives us added capability and capacity in the Asia Pacific region as we plan to grow with our customers and create more opportunities for our skilled workforce.”
The official statement said that the fully integrated connector manufacturing facility will feature advanced robotics, high-speed injection molding, stamping, plating and automated assembly processes along with tooling fabrication and reliability lab testing capabilities. The company expects to fulfill the growing demand for its “products that are used in many different applications, which include smartphones, TVs, home appliances, test equipment and medical devices.”
