ESIA Appoints Olivier Janin as Director General

Before joining ESIA, he served as Deputy Director General of Orgalim, Europe’s technology industries association, which he joined in 2008

The European Semiconductor Industry Association (ESIA) has appointed Olivier Janin as its new Director General, effective September 1, 2026, as Europe places increasing emphasis on semiconductor competitiveness, supply-chain resilience and technology sovereignty.

Janin, a lawyer by training, brings nearly two decades of experience in European industry representation, association management and public affairs. Before joining ESIA, he served as Deputy Director General of Orgalim, Europe’s technology industries association, which he joined in 2008.

During his tenure at Orgalim, Janin held several senior leadership positions, including heading its Partnership Department, which provides advocacy, management and secretariat services to European technology industry associations. He also led several industry associations, including the Association of European Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Contractors (AREA), the European Materials Handling Federation (FEM), and most recently, Food Manufacturing Technologies Europe (FMTE).

ESIA President Erik Rein said Janin’s experience in European policy, association leadership and technology industries would support the association at a critical time for the semiconductor sector. He highlighted Janin’s ability to build consensus among companies, industry associations and policymakers as Europe seeks to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem and translate policy objectives into industrial execution.

Commenting on his appointment, Janin said he looked forward to leading ESIA and building on its existing strengths while strengthening its strategic positioning, visibility and impact.

Under Janin’s leadership, ESIA will continue working with EU institutions and stakeholders globally to strengthen Europe’s semiconductor ecosystem. The association will focus on policies supporting investment, industrial scale-up, research and innovation, supply-chain resilience, skills development, sustainability and open, rules-based trade across the semiconductor value chain.
