Boosting US defence capabilities, Everspin Technologies secures a $40 million subcontract to provide MRAM technology and engineering services for critical military and aerospace applications.
Everspin Technologies has entered into an agreement with a US prime contractor to supply magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM) technology and engineering services for customers within the United States defence industrial base. The contract, valued at approximately $40 million, will run for two and a half years.
Under the terms of the arrangement, Everspin will act as a subcontractor on an existing prime contract, delivering Toggle MRAM process technology along with associated engineering and foundry services. The work is intended to support programmes linked to the US Department of War, in applications where reliability, durability and domestic manufacturing are critical requirements.
The company stated that the agreement builds on its prior involvement in defence-related projects, where its memory solutions are deployed in military and aerospace systems. MRAM technology is used in such environments for its ability to retain data without power and to maintain consistent performance under demanding conditions.
Everspin’s manufacturing capabilities are expected to play a role in fulfilling the contract. The company recently expanded its domestic production capacity through a foundry services agreement with Microchip Technology, which is expected to support future output for defence programmes.
Headquartered in Chandler, Everspin develops and supplies MRAM-based memory products for a range of sectors, including industrial systems, data centres, automotive and aerospace. Its offerings are designed for applications requiring non-volatile memory, where data must be preserved even when power is lost.
The latest agreement reflects continued demand for specialised semiconductor technologies within defence supply chains, particularly those produced within the United States to meet regulatory and operational requirements.
