Leading Finnish clean energy company, Fortum Oyj has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NBCC (India). Fortum has installed a 22 KW AC charger for electric vehicles on a pilot plan basis in New Moti Bagh Colony maintained by NBCC. The same will be operated using Fortum’s cloud-based computing system.
The charging point installed in Delhi is part of the plan to develop EV charging points across the country. It being the first charging station, was inaugurated by Finland’s Minister for Housing, Energy and the Environment, Kimmo Tiilikainen. Also present were Durga Shankar Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India and Anoop Kumar Mittal, Chairman & Managing Director, NBCC.
The charging station is equipped with GPRS and OCPP 1.5 communication system. The unit itself is of IP54 certified making suitable for outdoor operations. It has two charging points which will enable two cars to be charged at once. The charging station can be operated using a smartphone app or RFID tags through the Fortum cloud system. It also can be operated remotely.
