Four new GMs take charge at BEL

Saturday, October 26, 2013: Four new general managers have taken charge at Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) with effect from October 1, 2013. They are CP Suresh, GM (technology planning)/BEL corporate office; DC Das, GM (product support); Rani Vergis, GM (finance)/BEL-Bangalore; and Baljit Chander K, GM (Panchkula unit).

C P Suresh joined BEL in 1983 after completing BE (electronics & communication engineering) and ME (applied electronics) from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. He has extensively worked on terrestrial broadcasting & satellite communication systems. He was involved in the development of various communication terminals and security solutions for IAF & Army. Before his elevation he was involved in the design phase of various upcoming communication projects for IAF and Army.

D C Das, GM, an engineering graduate from IIT-Banaras Hindu University and MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University, joined BEL-Ghaziabad in 1979. Das has been Head of the Systems Strategic Business Unit (SBU) of BEL-Ghaziabad and has played an important role in implementing/commissioning many Defence and civilian projects; integrated communication network for Army; cellular network for 16 Corps of the Indian Army and satellite-based communication network for the Indian Navy. He was Additional General Manager of BEL’s Central Marketing in Delhi before his elevation as GM (Product Support).

Rani Vergis joined BEL-Ghaziabad in September 1985 after completing B.Com (Hons) from Delhi University and Chartered Accountancy. In a span of 24 years, she worked in all areas of finance at BEL-Ghaziabad. She served as Finance Head of Ghaziabad Unit and Military Radars and Military Communications SBUs of BEL-Bangalore before being transferred to BEL’s Corporate Office. She won the BEL Executive Excellence Award in the year 2002-03. She has also served as Secretary and later as Chairman of the BEL Provident Fund Trust (Northern Units) and has been a member of the Productivity Steering Committee of BEL-Bangalore and Corporate Steering Committee for cost reduction in BEL.

K Baljit Chander joined BEL in 1978 after completing BE (Electronics & Communications) with Distinction from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He worked in Development & Engineering (Radar) at BEL-Ghaziabad on various important radar projects. He has headed the Project Assurance/Product Support group at BEL-Ghaziabad for seven years. He was AGM (Product Support/Air Force)/BEL-Corporate Office, before his elevation.
