The partnership will help Fermionic move its RF chip designs into commercial production.

GlobalFoundries will manufacture radio frequency (RF) chips designed by Indian semiconductor startup Fermionic under a commercial partnership announced on June 11, 2026, ET reported.

The partnership marks a milestone for India’s semiconductor ecosystem, as Fermionic‘s RF chips will be the first semiconductors designed by an Indian company to be manufactured by GlobalFoundries, which produces chips for global technology companies including Qualcomm, MediaTek and Broadcom.

GlobalFoundries Engineering Private Limited (GF India) and Fermionic, a startup focused on advanced RF solutions, said the partnership will support the production of RF chips for strategic and communications applications. Fermionic is part of an early cohort of companies supported under the government’s Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme.

“Our collaboration with GlobalFoundries India enables us to deliver complex, production-grade RF silicon, not just prototypes, and build the confidence required by our customers in strategic applications,” said Gautam Kumar Singh, CEO of Fermionic.

He added that the company needed a manufacturing partner with expertise in RF technologies and production-grade execution, and that GlobalFoundries‘ RF capabilities and GF India‘s hands-on engagement helped make the partnership possible.

Fermionic is developing high-performance RF and millimeter-wave (mmWave) chips for radar, satellite communications, telecom infrastructure and related applications. Its product roadmap includes beamformers, phased-array transceivers, RF switches, high-linearity power amplifier chains and integrated front-end ICs for intelligent sensing, adaptive communications and AI-enabled RF systems.
