According to a report by PTI, union minister Shripad Naik said that the government has approved setting up of a defence cyber agency. The report also stated that in written response to a question in Lok Sabha, minister of state for defence said that to solve the issue of cyber threats, all the three services of the armed forces have set up their respective Cyber Emergency Response Teams (CERT).
Cyber audits, physical checks and policy guidelines
The report also said that adequate safeguards have been implemented in the form cyber audits, physical checks and policy guidelines for a strong structure of the armed forces. The government is also allocating a part of the budget for cyber operations and capability development.
On asked whether India has developed deterrence capability against adversaries who attack Indian satellites, Naik said that that information is strategic and sensitive in nature and it cannot be disclosed in the interest of national security.
