The company’s Ampere brand posted a 53% year-on-year (YoY) sales increase in January 2025, selling 3,611 units and securing a top-five spot in the EV two-wheeler market.
Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), the e-mobility division of Greaves Cotton Limited, continues to solidify its position in India’s electric vehicle (EV) market. The company’s electric two-wheeler brand, Ampere, reported a 53% year-on-year (YoY) growth in January 2025, with 3,611 units sold, as per the Vahan portal. This performance helped Ampere retain its position among the top five best-selling electric two-wheeler brands in India.
Month-on-month (MoM), the company registered a 27% sales increase, primarily driven by strong demand for its premium e-scooters—Nexus and Magnus Neo. Including slow-speed models, overall Ampere sales saw a 38% MoM rise, surpassing the industry growth average.
The Magnus Neo, an upgraded version of the popular Ampere Magnus, has been a key driver of this growth. Featuring advanced Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery technology, the scooter offers a certified range of over 100 km, a portable battery solution, and a safe charging time of 5-6 hours. Meanwhile, the Nexus, launched earlier in 2024, has been positioned as a high-performance family scooter, boasting a top speed of 93 kmph and a 136 km certified range. Both models have made it to the India Book of Records for their record-setting launch journeys, reinforcing their durability and reliability.
Beyond two-wheelers, the company also expands its footprint in the electric three-wheeler segment. MLR Auto Limited, a subsidiary of GEML, reported a 52% MoM sales growth, selling 665 units in the L5 category. Another subsidiary, Ele, saw notable growth in the e-rickshaw segment, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, with a 21% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) increase in sales.
Leveraging the company’s Cotton’s 165-year legacy, GEML continues to drive India’s transition to sustainable last-mile mobility by offering innovative, efficient, and cost-effective electric vehicle solutions. The company remains committed to strengthening its market presence and shaping the future of e-mobility in India.
