Green Circuits Expands SMT Capacity by 20% With Sixth Production Line

Green Circuits aims to meet growing customer requirements for high-mix and high-reliability electronics manufacturing

US-based electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider Green Circuits has expanded its manufacturing capacity with the installation and commissioning of its sixth surface-mount technology (SMT) production line. The expansion increases the company’s SMT capacity by approximately 20% amid growing demand from customers across aerospace and defence, medical technology, industrial electronics, and semiconductor and AI hardware markets.

The new SMT line is designed for high-mix manufacturing and combines high-speed component placement, in-line 3D solder paste inspection, and advanced reflow capabilities. The line includes a Juki G-Titan screen printer, Nordson Test & Inspection SE-600 3D solder paste inspection system, Juki FX-3 chipshooter, two Juki RX-6 pick-and-place machines, and a Vitronics Soltec Centurion 14-zone reflow oven.

According to Mark Evans, COO of Green Circuits, the additional capacity will provide greater flexibility to support customers while maintaining manufacturing quality and responsiveness.

For the new line, Green Circuits has continued with Juki pick-and-place technology, citing the need for flexibility, quick changeovers, and the ability to handle a wide range of component sizes in its high-mix production environment. The Juki RX-6 machines feature a dual-gantry architecture that enables simultaneous component placement, increasing production throughput.

The company has also added in-line 3D solder paste inspection using Nordson’s SE-600 system. The system enables automated inspection of solder paste deposition, helping identify process issues before they progress further into production.

The SMT line is completed by a Vitronics Soltec Centurion reflow oven with 14 heating zones and a 20-foot tunnel. The extended reflow capability is intended to support complex boards, including high-layer-count designs and assemblies featuring 4- to 6-ounce copper layers.

The sixth-line expansion is part of a broader investment in manufacturing capacity and capabilities. The company’s seventh SMT line is nearing shipment from the Juki factory, while the eighth and ninth lines are currently in the quotation stage.

With continued capacity expansion, Green Circuits aims to meet growing customer requirements for high-mix and high-reliability electronics manufacturing. Its services span engineering, PCB assembly, testing, box-build integration, and supply chain management, supporting customers from product development and prototyping through volume production and system-level integration.
