Monday, September 09, 2013: Representatives of DeitY and the Indian PCB industry met to discuss the nitty-gritties and growth of the industry during a round table conference on 22 July. The conference was held in the chairmanship of Dr. Ajay Kumar, joint secretary, Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India, where the issues for promoting the PCB industry in the country were discussed.
Indian Printed Circuit Association (IPCA) made a presentation on current scenario of the PCB industry in the country and globally and made some recommendations on issues such as sourcing of raw material, taxation and incentives. The meeting was attended by the top PCB manufacturers in the country.
The meeting identified the following main action points for further action:
* Increase Export incentives at par with, other countries to be globally competitive.
* Financial assistance scheme for participation in exhibitions to be initiated.
* Streamlining of procedural matters with Central Excise and Customs.
* PCB raw materials manufacturing to be included under M-SIPS Policy.
* Developing training programs for Skills Development for the PCB sector.
It was also arrived at that IPCA may carry out a study to compare Indian PCB industry with competing countries and suggest measures to be taken to counter the disadvantage being faced through safe guard duty for a limited period and/or anti dumping duty, etc. IPCA is to take up the issues and resolve them with the concerned ministries/ departments. IPCA would submit detailed representations along with supporting documents and justifications.
