Turning two-wheelers to software-defined vehicles, Hero MotoCorp deploys Excelfore’s eSync and AWS IoT to deliver secure over-the-air updates across Indian cities.
Hero MotoCorp has rolled out a new over-the-air (OTA) update system across its advanced connected vehicles. The deployed system, called the eSync platform, was developed by the US-based cloud connectivity firm Excelfore.
The system enables secure wireless software updates and remote data collection, reducing the need for physical service interventions. The solution is already live on vehicles operating in more than 10 Indian cities.
The first models equipped with the technology were launched in the second quarter of 2025. According to the company, these vehicles now regularly receive software updates and diagnostic data via the cloud, enabling faster identification and resolution of issues.
Hero MotoCorp has integrated Excelfore’s eSync data pipeline with Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) IoT Core. The cloud-based architecture supports continuous monitoring, standardised data flows and automated synchronisation between vehicles and backend systems.
The company said this would improve reliability, cybersecurity and lifecycle performance of its cars.
Ram Kuppuswamy, Chief Operating Officer, Manufacturing, Hero MotoCorp, commented, “Our OTA success rates are now among the highest in the industry. The adoption of the eSync standard gives us the agility, transparency and the ability to continually upgrade vehicle features and optimise reliability, without requiring service centre visits, ensuring an enhanced and effortless experience for our customers.”
“Through our collaboration, we look forward to years of joint innovation in our product lines and business models for global markets,” noted Shrinath Acharya, Chief Executive Officer, Excelfore.
The platform is based on the eSync specification, an industry standard developed by the eSync Alliance. The non-profit consortium includes vehicle manufacturers, tier-one suppliers, semiconductor companies and service providers. The specification defines a secure, multi-layer data pipeline linking cloud systems to vehicle edge devices.
