Targeting Japan’s growing drone market, ideaForge Technology partners Digital Media Professionals to deploy AI-powered UAVs and expand global footprint.
ideaForge Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan-based Digital Media Professionals (DMP) to co-develop next-generation AI-powered drones and expand into the Japanese market.
Under the agreement, ideaForge will integrate DMP’s Di1 edge AI system-on-chip into its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms, while DMP will support go-to-market activities in Japan, including demonstrations, distribution, customer engagement, training and after-sales services.
The collaboration aims to advance autonomous drone capabilities across defence, security and industrial applications.
The partnership comes as the global drone market is projected to grow significantly, with Japan identified as a key growth region. The companies said edge AI technologies are becoming increasingly important for enabling autonomous operations in complex environments.
DMP’s Di1 chip includes features such as an FP4-based neural processing unit and multi-camera support, designed to enable real-time processing and 360-degree vision. These capabilities will be combined with ideaForge’s vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drone platforms.
“This collaboration with DMP aligns perfectly with our broader strategy to develop high-performance, customizable AI for defence autonomy drones that efficiently address diverse global market needs,” said Ankit Mehta, CEO and Co-Founder of ideaForge.
He further said that this would leverage DMP’s strong presence and understanding of the Japanese market.
Tatsuo Yamamoto, Chairman, President and CEO of DMP, said, “We will work together to create Physical AI-powered solutions that change the way drones operate in terms of safety, accuracy, and independence.”
ideaForge said the collaboration forms part of its broader international expansion strategy, following its presence in the US through a joint venture focused on manufacturing and distribution.
