The initiative is expected to enable enterprises and government bodies to leverage AI built on Indian data, languages, and context.
IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation and Sarvam AI (Axonwise Private Limited) have announced a strategic collaboration to develop and deploy sovereign AI-powered solutions for government and industry clients across India.
The partnership marks a significant step toward strengthening technological self-reliance and advancing India’s position in the global AI ecosystem.
With India accelerating its national AI agenda, the demand for systems that understand Indian languages, reflect local contexts, and operate on domestic infrastructure is rapidly growing. Sarvam AI has emerged as a key player in this domain, building multilingual AI solutions and scalable infrastructure designed specifically for India.
As part of the collaboration, Sarvam AI will contribute its expertise in developing India-centric foundational models, including multilingual language models, conversational AI, and speech technologies tailored to Indian use cases. IITM Pravartak will complement this with its strengths in AI solution engineering, systems integration, and deployment, supported by its presence at the IIT Madras Research Park and experience in delivering applied technology programmes for government and industry.
Together, the organisations aim to co-develop and deliver end-to-end, production-grade AI applications across sectors such as public administration, defence, financial services, and healthcare. The initiative is expected to enable enterprises and government bodies to leverage AI built on Indian data, languages, and context.
