In three to five years, ASMPT will make a significant contribution to Indian SMT market

EB: How do you see the SMT market in India?

India’s contribution to the global electronics industry is not very significant at this point of time, but we see India as an upcoming market for SMT equipment, and so, maybe in the next three to five years, ASMPT will have made a significant contribution to the Indian SMT market. Although we have had a presence in India for more than 10 years, the size of our business is not very big as yet.

EB: What marketing strategy do you follow in India?

We have adopted a three pronged strategy, not only for the Indian market but for the global markets as well. The strategy is: better access to Asian markets, new products for previously under-served segments, and significantly increased efficiency, thanks to joint sourcing.

EB: How do you stay ahead of your competitors?

In this business, nothing is more important than knowing your customers. SIPLACE has been able to maintain and even strengthen its already strong position in the market because of its close collaboration with its customers. Going forth, this will continue to be the basis of supporting customers. I will partner with my long standing team to work hand-in-hand with our customers in Southeast Asia, which includes the recently active Vietnam and India markets, and even further north, encompassing Taiwan, Korea and Japan.

EB: In your region, which markets are doing well?

Today, the main contributions to the south and southeast Asian SMT markets are from Malaysia and Korea. We are a global company, with offices all over the world, but the best infrastructure facilities are in my region. So, many of our factories are located in Southeast Asia to serve customers better.

EB: What, according to you, works well for SIPLACE?

As the industry’s technology leader in every segment, SIPLACE delivers top performance in terms of placement speed, flexibility and accuracy. That’s why our placement solutions set the standard for the best practices in electronics production. As our customers’ technology partner, we support the entire SMT process—from consulting, process optimisation and best practices, to globally leading placement solutions, individual service offerings and training concepts.

Another strong point in favour of SIPLACE is its global presence. Global SIPLACE cluster organisation, factories, service stations and R&D facilities, as well as training and support centres form the global SIPLACE network. This global presence guarantees short response times and outstanding service for our customers.
