The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Commissariat a l energieatomique et aux energies alternatives (CEA), a French state-owned research entity, and BlueStorage SAS, a French company, to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two nations in the expansion of electric vehicles (EV).
Aim to boost EV ecosystem
The MoU between India and France extends the latter’s support to the Indian government for deploying EVs in the country. The aim is to maximise solar mobility and minimise its grid impact. Its objective is to figure out ways to discuss future collaboration in a pilot project to provide SECI with an e-vehicle charging station with embedded batteries, powered by solar panels and optimised connection to the grid.
The collaboration is expected to kickstart an exchange of information on policies, programs and technologies related to enhanced energy efficiency and demand-side management.
India-France partnership for renewable energy
The two countries have recently signed up a few collaborations. Earlier, the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), an autonomous body formed under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), had partnered with France’s National Solar Energy Institute (INES). It aimed for the growth of clean energy in both countries. France and India had also agreed to engage with the member nations of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and implement pilot projects.
