The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has launched India’s first Wind Turbine Supply Chain Management Portal to improve domestic sourcing, strengthen manufacturing capabilities and support the country’s growing wind energy ambitions.
India has launched its first dedicated Wind Turbine Supply Chain Management (WT-MARUT) Portal, aimed at strengthening the domestic wind manufacturing ecosystem and improving supply chain coordination across the sector.
Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi unveiled the portal at the Global Wind Day Conference in Goa. According to The Economic Times, the platform has been developed under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) with support from the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA).
The WT-MARUT portal is designed to provide visibility into component sourcing, support compliance with domestic sourcing requirements under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) framework, facilitate supplier discovery and qualification, enhance collaboration across the supply chain and improve export readiness.
The launch comes as India’s wind sector records strong growth. The country added a record 6.1 GW of new wind capacity in FY 2025-26, a 46% year-on-year increase and the highest annual wind installation achieved so far.
India currently has more than 56.1 GW of installed wind capacity, making it the world’s fourth-largest wind energy market. According to The Economic Times, wind turbine and component exports crossed ₹12,000 crore in FY 2025-26, nearly 50% higher than the previous fiscal year. Industry estimates suggest India could account for 10% of global wind turbine exports by 2030 and 20% by 2040.
