In the given quarter, organisational demand for low latency and high-performance storage solutions led to a three-digit growth in all-flash arrays (AFA). Most of the vendors started providing non-volatile memory express (NVMe)-based AFAs to push an incremental growth in coming quarters.

Growth in midrange segment

Midrange segment of external storage witnessed immense growth in the said quarter and continued to lead the market accounting for more than 66.9 per cent of the entire external storage market. However, entry-level as well as high-end storage segments saw a decline in the third quarter.

Ranganath Sadasiva, Director, Enterprise Solutions, IDC India, said, “The storage scene in India is seeing growth and leading the Information Transformation. In the third quarter of 2018, Dell Inc continued to be the leader of the market, capturing 30.3 per cent share of vendor revenue, followed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) having 18 per cent market share in external storage market.
