According to a report by Renewablesnow, Japan Renewable Energy (JRE) has started the the commercial operation of a 44-MW solar park in Japan’s Fukushima. The report said that the Nishinosato Solar Park was developed in partnership with local companies Fukushima Mirai and Shinobuyama Fukushima Power Co Ltd.
As per the report, the photovoltaic (PV) plant is expected to generate electricity to meet the power consumption of about 13,200 households. The report also said that the park is likely to mitigate about 26,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually. Japan’s Tohoku Electric Power Co Inc will purchase the plant’s output as per the report.
Work started in 2017
The construction of the solar park started in April 2017. It will be operated by GK Nishinosato Solar Park. This is a joint venture by JRE, Fukushima Mirai and Shinobuyama said the report. It also said that JRE started building the Yamato Takamori Solar Power Plant and the 62.53-MW JRE Aso Takamori Solar Power Plant solar plant in December.
