Adding another renewable energy milestone, Jupiter International clinches a ₹30 million deal for rooftop solar plants across 23 West Bengal sites.
Solar cell manufacturer Jupiter International Limited has secured a ₹30 million order from the West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) for a rooftop solar project in the state.
The agreement includes supplying, installing, and maintaining rooftop grid-connected solar photovoltaic power plants across 23 locations, with a total capacity of around 0.5MW. The project is expected to be completed within a time of one year.
This initiative is part of West Bengal’s efforts to improve energy efficiency, reduce operational costs, and cut carbon emissions. It also aligns with the state’s broader commitment to renewable energy development.
Jupiter International, with its headquarters in Kolkata, manufactures solar PV cells. Founded in 2008, The company operates a 1GW manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh and plans to expand its solar manufacturing capabilities in the coming years.
The company had earlier disclosed that it plans to invest ₹65 billion in the next three years. With this, by 2028, the company aims to achieve 3GW of wafer production, 9.4GW of solar cell capacity, and 6GW of module assembly.
Moreover, the company is also heavily focused on research and development (R&D) as it aims to cover the entire value chain.
Recently, Alok Garodia, Managing Director of Jupiter International, has testified company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality., stating “We are not just increasing capacity, we are redefining leadership in solar manufacturing.”
