This alliance marks a significant milestone in India’s journey toward technological self-reliance and global leadership in next-generation communications and medical innovation.
Keysight Technologies, Inc. has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER), an esteemed R&D organization under India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). This collaboration aims to accelerate innovation in 6G communication and healthcare technologies, reinforcing the government’s ‘Made in India’ initiative.
Through this partnership, Keysight and SAMEER will establish a Center of Excellence in healthcare and a dedicated research lab for 6G technologies. These efforts are designed to build India’s capabilities in next-generation communications and medical electronics, supporting strategic and civilian applications alike.
As part of the MoU, Keysight will assist SAMEER in setting up fully equipped laboratories that foster 6G research and development in Indian academic and research institutions. A key focus area will be the advancement of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologies through the planned healthcare center of excellence.
Dr. P. Hanumantha Rao, Director General of SAMEER, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “Following our success in demonstrating India’s 5G stack with IIT Madras, this partnership with Keysight will strengthen our 6G research. It also opens doors for Indian researchers and academic institutions to access cutting-edge technologies.”
SAMEER has already made notable contributions in healthcare, including the development of a fully indigenous Linear Accelerator (LINAC) for cancer treatment and an affordable 1.5T MRI system. Through this MoU, Keysight will support wider adoption of these technologies across India, while continuing joint research efforts that leverage each organization’s strengths.
Sudhir Tangri, Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales and Country General Manager for Keysight India, added, “Creating a research ecosystem for 6G and healthcare is crucial for driving innovation in India. We are proud to partner with SAMEER to deliver world-class infrastructure and enable groundbreaking advancements.”
