LG Electronics has developed an autonomous driving platform in partnership with Magna. This platform combines LG Electronics’ IVI technology with Magna’s ADAS and autonomous driving solutions into a single chipset module.

“The cost is reduced compared to incorporating each system separately. This new autonomous driving platform will offer a safe and efficient driving experience through information sharing and processing among systems,” said an LG Electronics official to a news portal.
LG Electronics is set to unveil a cutting-edge platform for human-machine interaction (HMI) tailored for automotive displays like pillar-to-pillar displays (P2P) and augmented reality head-up displays (AR-HUD).
The P2P display seamlessly combines the instrument cluster, central information display, and passenger-side screen into a unified interface. On the other hand, the AR-HUD delivers critical visual information in 2D and 3D graphics to enhance drivers’ forward attention, offering alerts, alternative routes for safe driving, and even lifestyle content accessible via the car’s display.
This groundbreaking platform will debut at CES 2024 in Las Vegas on January 9th (local time). LG Electronics plans to refine and stabilise the technology before introducing it in their 2027 model, focusing strategically on the software-defined vehicle (SDV) market.
