The business will follow a hybrid model combining in-house research and development, technology collaborations
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has officially entered the B2B industrial electronics segment with the commencement of manufacturing operations at its Coimbatore campus in Tamil Nadu. The company’s new business vertical, L&T Electronic Products & Systems (LTEPS), will be headquartered in Bengaluru, while its production base is located in Coimbatore.
In the initial phase, two manufacturing lines have been commissioned to offer electronics manufacturing services (EMS) to both domestic and global clients. The move marks a strategic expansion for L&T as it strengthens its presence in high-value technology-driven manufacturing.
The company’s chairman stated that the entry into industrial electronics aligns with L&T’s Lakshya 2031 vision, aimed at enhancing technology leadership and supporting India’s push for self-reliance in critical manufacturing sectors. LTEPS is expected to contribute to the country’s growing electronics manufacturing ecosystem while expanding L&T’s footprint in strategic domains.
Leveraging its existing capabilities in strategic electronics, LTEPS will focus on developing and manufacturing industrial electronic products across key segments such as power electronics, mobility, industrial robotics and automation, communication platforms, and electronics systems design and manufacturing (ESDM).
The business will follow a hybrid model combining in-house research and development, technology collaborations, and advanced testing infrastructure to deliver market-ready solutions. In its early phase, LTEPS will prioritise contract manufacturing and design support services, while gradually scaling up product development capabilities to cater to both domestic and export markets.
