Mavenir Launches Virtualised Cloud Solutions for Telecom Industry in India

Mavenir, at the India Mobile Congress, has launched cloud-based solutions for network providers to generate revenues in the 5G era in India

Software solutions provider, Mavenir has announced that it will offer virtualised cloud solutions for the telecom industry of India. At India Mobile Congress 2018, Pardeep Kohli, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mavenir said that in the upcoming 5G era, the data rates of multi-gigabits per second would hit the peak level. It would support the Internet of Things (IoT) devices and new services for machine communications and ultra-reliable low latency applications.

4G to 5G

He added that the cost-per-bit models and network architectures with 4G strategies would need to upgrade to 5G use cases. Mavenir’s virtualised radio access network (RAN) solutions would help the communications service providers (CSPs) to explore the cost reduction strategies.

The CEO highlighted the need for network operators to monetise their investments on 4G. Mavenir’s solution would enable the investors to solve the issue by utilizing radio slicing for enterprise and IoT use cases.

Virtualized RAN

The virtualized radio access network focusses on virtual Base Band Unit (vBBU), with optimized front haul (FH) transmission between the RRU and the vBBU over Ethernet. It offers cloud-based virtualization of the 4G networks and paves way for the 5G one.

Mavenir RCS business solution

The software firm has also introduced its RCS business solution that enables brands, aggregators and enterprises to monetize RCS messaging technologies and provide rich, multimedia end-user experiences from the native messaging application on the devices. Communication service providers can use this solution to generate revenues according to Sanjay Bakaya, RVP, India and South Asia Region, Mavenir.

Mobile operators can generate profit by offering a fast and simple solution to implement RCS messaging into the wireless network. It also allows integration of enablers like chatbots, mobile payments and other message-based applications to enable operators and aggregators to strategically position themselves as key players in the business-to-consumer (B2C) messaging market.

Mavenir has been operating in India since 2006 with over 1100 employees. It is engaged with more than 250 mobile operators across the world and is eyeing on business expansion in India ahead of 5G rollout.
