Membrane Group India Private Limited has partnered with Kurita Membrane India Private Limited, a joint venture with Japan’s Kurita Water Industries Ltd., to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem through advanced water and wastewater treatment solutions.
The agenda of this partnership is to become a key provider of ultrapure water (UPW), wastewater recycling, and sustainable water management solutions to India’s semiconductor and advanced electronics manufacturing facilities.
The collaboration combines Kurita’s global expertise in semiconductor water treatment technologies with Membrane Group’s engineering, manufacturing, and project execution capabilities in India. Together, the companies will deliver locally tailored, end-to-end water infrastructure solutions for the country’s expanding chip manufacturing sector.
“India has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to establish itself as a global semiconductor manufacturing hub. Achieving this vision will require world-class infrastructure, and water will be one of its most critical enablers,” said Peeyush Narang, Managing Director of Membrane Group India. He added that the partnership will help provide world-class ultrapure water, wastewater recycling, and sustainable water management solutions while supporting India’s long-term technological ambitions.
The joint venture marks Membrane Group’s strategic expansion into India’s semiconductor value chain. Its growth strategy is backed by GEF Capital Partners, a private equity investor focused on resource efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Kurita Membrane India will offer a comprehensive portfolio of services, including ultrapure water systems for semiconductor fabrication plants, industrial water and wastewater treatment, wastewater reclamation and reuse, resource recovery, Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) solutions, water analysis, laboratory services, and engineering, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance support.
The company also has a plan to set up a state-of-the-art Ultrapure Water Analysis Centre to offer advanced water quality testing, process optimisation, and technical services for semiconductor manufacturers.
This initiative comes because India is showcasing tremendous interest in accelerating investment in the semiconductor industry, supported by government incentives. As semiconductor fabrication facilities need strongly reliable ultrapure water and advanced recycling systems, the new collaboration has set an agenda to address a critical infrastructure need while enabling sustainable manufacturing practices.
