Koh Young Names Tom Hattori As President Of Japan Operations

Bringing two decades of industry insight, Tom Hattori steps in to lead Koh Young Japan, aiming to align innovation with Japan’s rapidly evolving electronics market.

Koh Young Technology, a South Korea-based firm specialising in true 3D measurement-based inspection systems, has named Tom Hattori as the new President of its Koh Young Japan (JKY).

The company announced that this marks a move to strengthen the company’s presence in Japan’s dynamic electronics manufacturing market.

Mr Hattori brings over two decades of leadership experience in the electronics industry, particularly in strategic planning, market development, and operational management. While specific details of his past roles have not been disclosed, Koh Young cited his extensive background with global technology firms across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.

In a statement following his appointment, Mr Hattori said, “Koh Young’s commitment to continuous innovation and customer-focused solutions strongly aligns with my professional values. The company’s pioneering role in 3D inspection technologies, combined with its vision to shape industry standards, presents an exceptional opportunity.”

He also reflected on the shifting dynamics within Japan’s electronics sector. “Our industry here is undergoing rapid transformation, marked by increasing demands for greater precision, productivity, and digitisation,” he said. “These trends highlight significant opportunities for Koh Young’s advanced metrology solutions. My goal is to align our local strategies closely with these evolving customer needs to support their journey toward smarter manufacturing.”

Mr Hattori laid out his strategic focus: strengthening customer engagement, tailoring solutions to Japan’s specific market conditions, and maintaining high operational standards.

“To lead in the Japanese market, our approach must be proactive and responsive, leveraging our global strengths while adapting to local requirements,” he noted.

On global collaboration, he added, “Effective global cooperation will be critical to our success. By exchanging insights and best practices across regions, we will build stronger local capabilities that deliver exceptional value to our customers.”

Koh Young expressed confidence in Mr Hattori’s leadership and said it looks forward to expanding its impact in Japan under his guidance.
