Capitalising on the company’s record growth in the Indian market, Nothing appoints Akis Evangelidis as India President to drive expansion ahead of the Phone 3a launch.
On Wednesday, Nothing appointed its co-founder, Akis Evangelidis, as the new President of India, where he will oversee the company’s expansion. This announcement comes ahead of the global release of its Phone 3a series, as the London-based tech firm is looking to increase its retail presence in India.
Akis Evangelidis brings extensive experience from his career in marketing and public relations, having worked with telecom and media brands such as Universal Pictures and Sony Xperia. With over a decade of expertise in the field, he has been involved in numerous high-profile global consumer electronics launches.
He has served as the Global Campaign Manager at Sony Mobile Communications. In 2015, Akis joined OnePlus as Vice President for France, and over the last three years, he led the company’s growth in PR and Communications department across Europe.
One of his contributions includes OnePlus generating annual revenues of over $1.4 billion by 2017, just four years after its launch.
Starting its journey in October 2020, Nothing reported a whopping 577 per cent year-over-year growth in 2024, becoming India’s fastest-growing smartphone brand.
According to a Counterpoint report, this surge was driven by strong demand for the Phone 2a series and its sub-brand CMF.
The company also revealed that it surpassed $1 billion in lifetime revenue in just four years, with more than half of this total coming in 2024 alone.
Commenting on his new role, Evangelidis expressed that India was a critical market for Nothing, with significant potential to become a leading consumer tech brand. He noted his enthusiasm to serve Indian consumers.
He further added that India’s growing influence in the global smartphone industry made it essential for Nothing to accelerate its ‘Make in India’ initiatives and increase local production.
