After 26 years of shaping wireless innovation, Dr Aslam Rafi has been named a Senior Fellow at Silicon Labs, the company’s highest technical recognition.
Silicon Labs has promoted Dr Aslam Rafi to the position of Senior Fellow, the highest technical distinction within the company, recognising long-term contributions to its technology development and strategic direction.
The announcement was made from the company’s headquarters in Austin, where Silicon Labs stated that the designation is reserved for individuals whose work has had a sustained and significant impact on its engineering capabilities and product portfolio.
Dr Rafi, who has been with the company for 26 years, has contributed to advancements in radio frequency and analogue technologies across multiple application areas, including cellular communications, broadcast systems, timing solutions and Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity.
His work is integrated across a wide range of Silicon Labs’ products, supporting its focus on low-power wireless technologies.
According to the company, the Senior Fellow role is awarded through a selective evaluation process that considers technical expertise, influence on engineering practices, commercial outcomes and broader industry contributions.
Dr. Rafi has authored more than 112 patents and has published research in several industry forums, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Solid-State Circuits Conference, the Journal of Solid-State Circuits and the Custom Integrated Circuits Conference.
His academic background includes a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree from Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
The company indicated that the promotion reflects both past contributions and an ongoing role in shaping its future technology roadmap, particularly in wireless and semiconductor design.
