Triton EV Plans to Launch New EV Pickup Truck in Indian and Middle Eastern Market

Triton Electric Vehicle (TEV) expands its global footprint by introducing the 3.5T Triton EV pickup truck, focusing on India and the Middle East as key markets for sustainable logistics solutions.

Recently, Triton Electric Vehicle (TEV) announced its plans to launch the 3.5T Triton EV pickup truck to cater to the growing demand for electric mobility in India’s logistics and supply chain sectors and the Middle East. The move aligns with the shifting trend in India, where road transportation dominates freight movement, driven by an increasing emphasis on sustainable logistics practices.

The initial investment of Rs 1,200 crore in the current financial year will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for approximately 10,000 individuals. The facility will feature in-house facilities such as a robotic paint shop, chassis sub-assembly, and a quality assurance and material testing lab. The sprawling 645-acre plant will have an annual production capacity of 50,000 trucks, supported by the state government’s assistance in approvals and registration processes.

Himanshu Patel, Managing Director of Triton EV, expressed optimism about the potential of electric vehicles (EVs) in the logistics industry, stating, “EVs are becoming stronger by virtue of their contribution to the diverse automobile sector. The logistics sector represents a great portion of automobile consumption, and this sector is showing fast adoption of EVs.”

TEV’s commitment to supporting local EV production extends beyond sustainability goals. Patel emphasized, “Supporting local EV production will not only generate job opportunities within the supply chain for more people. This EV pickup truck shall open the doors for better profitability and supply chain coverage.”

Triton EV’s diverse product portfolio encompasses electric semi-trucks, SUVs, sedans, defence EVs, and e-rickshaws, further bolstering its presence in the burgeoning electric vehicle market. The groundwork for this expansion was laid in May 2022 when Triton EV established its largest research and development (R&D) facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The facility is the global centre for all of Triton EV’s R&D activities, including Triton EV Trucks, Triton EV Cars, and special-purpose vehicles.
