RecycleKaro, known for recycling lithium-ion batteries, is forging a partnership with Bajaj Auto to manage lithium-ion battery recycling. Leveraging its Hydrometallurgy technology, RecycleKaro intends to process batteries from Bajaj Auto vehicles and recover up to 95% of crucial materials like cobalt, lithium, nickel, and manganese. These reclaimed materials can then be used in the creation of new batteries.
Annually, this joint effort plans to process about 500 metric tonnes of batteries, effectively addressing the significant concern of battery waste and endorsing the judicious utilization of resources. This aligns with global sustainability objectives and the ideals of a circular economy.
This alliance underscores the growing emphasis on eco-friendly measures in the automotive industry. Bajaj Auto’s union with RecycleKaro highlights its dedication to environmental stewardship and prudent resource management.
Rajesh Gupta, the Founder and director of RecycleKaro, acknowledged the challenges presented by the booming EV market and mentioned that this partnership is geared towards reducing battery waste and fostering a more sustainable method of resource usage.
Situated in Palghar, near Mumbai, RecycleKaro’s expansive 17-acre recycling facility can presently accommodate 2500 metric tonnes of lithium-ion batteries and 7500 metric tonnes of electronic waste. The company has set sights on expanding its capacity to a staggering 50,000 metric tonnes by the year 2025.
