Rimac Nevera eHypercar Breaks Tesla S’ Lap Record At Nürburgring

The Nevera, designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Croatia, had arrived at the ATP track already holding the title of the EV with the highest verified top speed, having achieved 412 km/h. Croatian racing driver Martin Kodric drove it

Rimac Nevera Electric Hypercar has broken yet another record: a new electric production car benchmark at the German Nürburgring track (20.6 Km) in 7 minutes and 5.298 seconds. In the process, it broke the previous EV production lap record, beating it by 20 seconds. The Tesla Model S previously held this record.

This record is just the latest in a list of more than 20 that the Nevera has shattered this year. In April 2023, at the Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) in Germany, the Rimac Nevera claimed 23 performance records (see image 1) in a single day, including 0-100 Km/h, 0-200 km/h,
and 0-300 km/h.

Notably, the Nevera, designed, engineered, and handcrafted in Croatia, had already arrived at the ATP track holding the title of the EV with the highest verified top speed, having achieved 412 km/h. Croatian racing driver Martin Kodric was at the wheel.

According to Rimac Group Founder and CEO Mate Rimac, the Nevera has reinvented the hypercar world, introducing new technologies, abilities, and performance. A massive 120 kWh battery powers this hypercar, which can generate a maximum power of 1,914 hp, a maximum torque of 2360 NM, and comes with a 490 km WLTP range.

“But the simplest way to demonstrate its capabilities is to break records. And that’s precisely what we’ve done in 2023 repeatedly,” he said.

He added, “It’s only August, too, so there’s plenty of time for more records to be broken.” Furthermore, the announced Nevera Time Attack is a Limited Edition car that celebrates the past year’s achievements, sporting a bespoke livery inspired by the car that set each of them in motion.

The Nevera that toured the world, breaking records, features a base of Squadron Black, with Lightning Green highlights, including a pair of stripes running from front to rear. This bespoke shade of Lightning Green is inspired by a peculiar weather phenomenon that occurs before a storm when charged ionized particles give the sky a beautiful, powerful, vivid green hue. It is also a direct homage to the e-M3—Mate Rimac’s converted electric BMW 3 Series that the FIA independently verified in 2012 as the fastest accelerating electric vehicle in the world at the time.

The Rimac Group, led by CEO Mate Rimac, is the majority shareholder of Bugatti Rimac and the sole stakeholder of Rimac Technology.
