Wednesday, April 30, 2014: The government of India has appointed Ram Sevak Sharma as the new secretary of Department Of Electronics and Information Technology (DEITY). Sharma, the Jharkhand cadre IAS officer, will succeed J Satyanarayana, who will retire from the post today.
An official order on the same read, “The Appointments Committee of the cabinet has approved the appointment of Ram Sewak Sharma, IAS (JH 78), at present in the cadre, as Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology.”
Prior to this, Sharma was the director general and mission director of the unique identification authority of India (UIDAI) between August 2009 and March 2013. He was a key player in development of Aadhar card concept with former UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani.
