Samsung Electronics is exploring deeper semiconductor collaboration with Nvidia as both companies look toward the next generation of AI and high-performance computing technologies.
Speaking in Seoul on Monday, Samsung co-CEO and head of its semiconductor business, Jun Young-hyun, said he met with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to discuss opportunities in advanced foundry manufacturing and future chip technologies.
The discussions covered ongoing projects as well as potential long-term partnerships. Samsung and Nvidia are already working together on autonomous driving processors and AI accelerator chips developed by semiconductor startup Groq. The companies also exchanged views on future semiconductor products, including advanced memory technologies such as HBM4E and HBM5, which are expected to play a critical role in supporting increasingly demanding AI workloads.
The meeting signals Samsung’s continued efforts to strengthen its position in the rapidly growing AI semiconductor market, where demand for advanced chips and memory solutions is accelerating.
Earlier this year, Nvidia unveiled a new AI inference processor based on technology from Groq. At the time, Huang confirmed that Samsung would manufacture Groq’s LP30 chips, with commercial shipments expected to begin in the second half of the year.
As AI applications become more complex and data-intensive, next-generation memory and advanced chip manufacturing capabilities are emerging as key areas of competition. The discussions between Samsung and Nvidia highlight the growing importance of strategic partnerships across the semiconductor supply chain as companies race to meet future AI infrastructure demands.
