Sarvam AI Set to Raise $74 Million in NVIDIA-Led Funding Round 

NVIDIA will invest $25 million in Sarvam AI’s latest funding round, reinforcing investor confidence in the startup’s India-focused AI models and infrastructure. 

Indian artificial intelligence startup Sarvam AI is set to raise $74 million (approximately ₹698 crore) through an extension of its Series B funding round, with NVIDIA Corporation leading the investment. The latest capital infusion comes just months after the company secured $234 million in a funding round led by HCL Technologies, a deal that propelled the Bengaluru-based startup into the unicorn club.

According to filings with the Registrar of Companies (RoC), Sarvam AI’s board has approved the issuance of 20,244 Series B compulsorily convertible preference shares and seven equity shares at an issue price of ₹344,570 per share, enabling the company to raise nearly ₹698 crore ($74 million).

NVIDIA will invest ₹238 crore (around $25 million), making it the largest investor in the extension round. Glade Brook Capital will contribute ₹190.3 crore (about $20 million), while Gaja Capital has committed ₹95 crore (about $10 million). Investors Sanjay Kalra and Jyotika Kapoor will invest ₹50 crore (about 5 million), with additional participation from angel investors and family offices, including Vrijesh Agarwal, KJ Trust, and AL Trust.

Founded by Vivek Raghavan and Pratyush Kumar, Sarvam AI develops large language models (LLMs), AI inference infrastructure, and enterprise AI solutions focused on Indian languages and local use cases. The company has recently launched foundation models such as Sarvam 105B, Sarvam 30B, and Sarvam Vision, all trained within India to strengthen the country’s indigenous AI ecosystem.

Based on the proposed investment, Sarvam AI is expected to achieve a post-money valuation of approximately ₹14,342 crore ($1.51 billion). After the transaction, NVIDIA is projected to hold a 1.66 per cent stake, while Glade Brook Capital will own 1.33 per cent. HCL Technologies’ stake will dilute to 9.95 per cent, with the founders retaining 38.44 per cent ownership.

The company has also recently appointed Devendra Singh Chaplot, a founding member of Thinking Machines Lab, as an advisor, further strengthening its leadership as it expands its AI research, infrastructure, and enterprise product portfolio.
