SEDEMAC Boosts Motor Control Unit Development With Siemens Xcelerator

SEDEMAC is incorporating Siemens Xcelerator software to enhance the creation of motor and engine control units for both electric and internal combustion engine vehicles.

Siemens Digital Industries Software has announced that SEDEMAC is utilising the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of industry software to enhance its product development efforts.

This Siemens software will aid in the creation of motor control units for electric vehicles (EVs), hybrids, eBikes, and power tools, in addition to engine control units for both off-road and on-road engines.

Originating from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, SEDEMAC maintains manufacturing and development operations in Pune, India. Its pioneering sensorless control (SLC) technology has been integrated into millions of vehicles and other devices globally.

SEDEMAC has incorporated Siemens’ Polarion™ X software to oversee traceability between requirements and test cases, centralize test documentation, manage versions and revisions, capture lessons learned, and unify design processes and reporting across various teams.

Furthermore, SEDEMAC has implemented Siemens’ Teamcenter® X software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to enhance its Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) capabilities with Polarion. These tools collectively aim to accelerate development timelines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Teamcenter X serves as a digital innovation hub, promoting effective collaboration among teams, simplifying the management of manufacturing Bills of Materials (mBOM), and boosting engineer productivity and efficiency.

Harsh Vinjamoor, Chief Engineer of Systems Engineering at SEDEMAC, mentioned that the adaptable nature of Polarion has allowed them to tailor workflows to their specific needs, enhancing project management and risk control.

The system’s reporting features enable quality teams to oversee various projects and keep management updated on potential risks. The capability to modify workflows internally also supports continuous process enhancements.

Mathew Thomas, Managing Director and Vice President for India at Siemens Digital Industries Software, emphasised the significance of a robust digital platform strategy for companies developing solutions within the electric vehicle ecosystem.

He pointed out that Siemens’ digital twin solutions, rooted in the Xcelerator platform, offer interoperability and adaptability, allowing SEDEMAC to integrate these tools with its existing technologies and concentrate on product development, research, and engineering.
