Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of Solar Industries India Limited conducted a Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for its upcoming Robotics and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) manufacturing facility at the MIHAN Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Nagpur on March 7, 2026.
The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was performed by Maharashtra’s CM Devendra Fadnavis. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari was also present in this ceremony.
This new Robotics and UAV manufacturing facility involves an investment of ~₹128 billion in deep-tech defence technologies including robotics, UAVs and long-range missile systems.
The facility is planned to be developed over the next 3-4 years. Founder Satyanarayan Nuwal expects to produce approximately 10,000 drones and 1,000 robots annually. He also stated that the first robot prototype is likely to be produced within one year.
According to the company, this facility will lead the company to expand into advance defence technologies, autonomous systems, and robotics-enabled solutions.
The proposed facility will focus on the development and manufacturing of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), robotics platforms, and next-generation defence technologies aimed at strengthening indigenous capabilities.
