Through this collaboration, DNP aims to combine IITH’s research capabilities and talent pool with its own technological strengths
Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) will establish a new research and development base in Telangana in April 2026 as part of its efforts to strengthen its global R&D network. The India facility will be DNP’s second overseas R&D base, following the one it set up in the Netherlands in September 2025.
The company will carry out joint research with the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) in the mobility and medical healthcare sectors, both of which are key focus areas for DNP. The new centre will be located at the Technology Research Park (TRP), a corporate collaboration facility within the IITH campus.
Through this collaboration, DNP aims to combine IITH’s research capabilities and talent pool with its own technological strengths to speed up innovation and support faster social implementation of new technologies.
In the mobility segment, DNP said it currently holds the world’s largest global share in battery pouches, which are used as exterior materials for EV lithium-ion batteries. The company is also expanding its work in next-generation mobility technologies.
At the new India base, DNP and IITH will focus on the design, development, and commercialisation of wireless power supply systems for electric vehicles. The initiative will be built around DNP’s sheet-type coil technology and is aligned with the future needs of autonomous driving and advanced mobility.
