SpaceX was preparing to send 23 Starlink internet satellites into space on the evening of October 29, marking its second mission for the day. But, after detecting an issue with a rocket, the launch was scheduled for 30th October. The launch is set to take place from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. To watch the launch in real-time, audiences can log onto SpaceX’s X account (previously known as Twitter), with the broadcast starting roughly five minutes before the scheduled launch time. Assuming everything proceeds as planned, the Falcon 9’s first stage is expected to return to Earth around 8.5 minutes after the launch, executing a vertical landing on the drone ship “A Shortfall of Gravitas” in the Atlantic Ocean. This mission represents the eighth time the first stage of this specific Falcon 9 rocket has been launched and landed. The deployment of the 23 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit is anticipated about 65.5 minutes post-launch. Earlier in the day, SpaceX had already launched a Starlink mission, sending 22 satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, making it a two-fold Starlink event for SpaceX on that Sunday. SpaceX’s Starlink initiative is a grand project to provide global broadband internet services. So far, over 5,000 Starlink satellites have been placed into low Earth orbit. SpaceX’s ongoing vision involves launching up to 12,000 satellites, with proposals in place for an additional 30,000, signalling a significant expansion ahead.
