Hyperfines distribution partnership with Radiosurgery Global aligns with its global expansion strategy, introducing the Swoop system to address India’s vast and underserved MRI market.

Hyperfine, an American healthcare technology company, has recently announced its distribution agreement with Radiosurgery Global to expand its presence in India. This strategic move aims to introduce the FDA-cleared portable magnetic resonance (MR) brain imaging system, Swoop. To address India’s significant shortage of MRI scanners, which currently stands at fewer than 5000 units for a population exceeding 1.4 billion. With the country projected to experience a rise in annual cancer and brain tumor cases from nearly 1.4 million in 2020 to 1.57 million by 2025, the need for advanced diagnostic tools is essential. Hyperfine’s partnership with Radiosurgery Global Ltd signifies a significant step towards bridging this healthcare gap and enhancing medical imaging.

Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore, India, has purchased a low-field portable MRI scanner which is AI powered and can be moved from one place to another with the help of a joystick. An official from CMC Vellore posted on their website revealing that the Hyperfine Swoop Low-Field Portable MRI Scanner is the first hospital in India to purchase an AI powered scanner which has a magnetic field of 0.064 T, making it safer than conventional MRI. He adds that the scanner is equipped with advanced and deep learning algorithms to produce high-quality MRI images. In fact the Swoop System has been currently approved for research use in the country.

President and CEO of Hyperfine, Inc Maria Sainz revealed that expanding commercially to Asia with a focus on India is an important element of our international strategy. In fact the company has started preparing for the regulatory approval process through the CDSCO and are excited to partner with an experienced and capable group like Radiosurgery Global, Ltd. to drive commercial impact in 2025 and beyond. She says that further expansion into global markets are not only revolutionizing healthcare delivery but also significantly impacting patient outcomes.
