To set up a semiconductor plant in Tiruvallur, the Tamil Nadu government has inked a deal with the Japanese precision manufacturing company MinebeaMitsumi. The investment is estimated at ₹1,980 crore.

Recently, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister S. Joseph Vijay met MinebeaMitsumi Chairman Katsuhiko Yoshida and senior company executives at the Secretariat in Chennai to discuss the proposed project and broader business collaboration in the state.
The delegation from MinebeaMitsumi included India Chairman and Managing Director Shoji Shishido, India Business Development Office Head Daisuke Matsuda, Vice President Moka Kiyohara, and Sam George.

State officials said the investment aligns with Tamiamong’s multiple investment and industrial development initiatives to expand Nadu’s ongoing push to attract semiconductor and high-value manufacturing projects.
During the meeting, the government has also emphasised continued coordination among multiple investment and industrial development initiatives to expand the state’s electronics and semiconductor ecosystem.
