Tata Motors Partners With Delta Electronics, Thunderplus For 250 Fast-Charging Stations

Based on its insights into the commercial electric vehicle trend, Tata Motors will suggest ideal locations and closest dealerships for establishing these fast-charging stations.

Tata Motors has formed strategic alliances with Delta Electronics India and Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd to enhance the charging infrastructure for its electric commercial vehicles. As part of this initiative, 250 new fast charging stations will be established across India, spanning over 50 cities, including major metropolitan areas such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune, and Kochi. This expansion will augment the current network of 540 commercial vehicle charging points.

The adoption of commercial EVs by e-commerce firms, courier services, and other sectors for last-mile delivery is growing as they seek to diminish their environmental impact. Leveraging its expertise in the commercial EV sector, Tata Motors will identify strategic locations and nearby dealerships for the new charging stations. Delta Electronics will provide the essential charging technology, while Thunderplus Solutions will handle the installation and operation of these facilities.

Vinay Pathak, Vice President and Business Head – SCV&PU at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, emphasized that enhancing the charging infrastructure along heavily trafficked routes will motivate more customers to choose electric commercial vehicles. This expansion is expected to boost vehicle uptime, increase revenue, and enhance profitability, all while contributing to environmental sustainability.

He further noted that situating fast chargers at Tata dealerships ensures easy access to dependable charging options at known locations. Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India, highlighted the importance of their collaboration with Tata Motors and Thunderplus in enriching India’s electric cargo ecosystem.

Rajeev YSR, CEO of Thunderplus Solutions Pvt Ltd, remarked on their commitment to providing superior charging solutions that prioritize convenience and reliability for electric commercial vehicle users.

Tata Motors continues to lead with its Ace EV, India’s premier four-wheel e-cargo vehicle designed for efficient last-mile deliveries. Supported by more than 150 Electric Vehicle Service Centres nationwide, the Ace EV features an advanced battery management system, Fleet Edge telematics, and robust components to ensure optimal operational uptime.

Additionally, through the Tata UniEVerse framework, the Ace EV gains from synergies with various Tata Group companies and partnerships with leading financiers, providing customers with a comprehensive e-cargo mobility solution. The Ace EV is available for purchase at all Tata Motors commercial vehicle dealerships throughout the country.
