Under an agreement, TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., a subsidiary of Tata Motors, will supply, operate, and maintain 921 advanced 12-metre low-floor electric buses for BMTC over 12 years. This delivery of 100 buses is a segment of the larger order.
Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has delivered 100 advanced Starbus EVs to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). This delivery is part of a broader agreement with TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., a Tata Motors subsidiary, to supply, operate, and maintain 921 modern 12-metre low-floor electric buses over a 12-year period.
The inauguration of Tata Motors’ smart electric bus was led by Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Shri Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, alongside other government officials.
Ms G Sathyavathi, IAS Managing Director of BMTC, expressed her satisfaction with the induction of Tata Motors’ buses, citing the successful city trials of the electric bus prototypes.
Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, CEO and MD of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited, expressed confidence in the buses enhancing BMTC’s fleet, emphasizing their safety, comfort, technology, and energy efficiency. He noted that these buses, manufactured at cutting-edge facilities, have undergone extensive testing in various conditions.
To date, Tata Motors has delivered over 1,500 electric buses to various cities in India, collectively covering more than 10 crore kilometres with an uptime exceeding 95%.
The press release highlighted the buses’ sophisticated features, including electronic stability control, electronic brake distribution, air suspension, an Intelligent Transport System, and a panic button, among others.
