Tata Power is expanding rooftop solar adoption in Punjab with battery storage, financing support, and community-driven clean energy initiatives.
Tata Power Solar Rooftop has launched its ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign in Punjab, aiming to install rooftop solar and battery energy storage systems across 100,000 households over the next three years.
According to The Economic Times the initiative is designed to create an integrated ecosystem combining rooftop solar, battery storage, and financing solutions to make clean energy adoption more accessible.
Praveer Sinha, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, said, “Punjab is rapidly emerging as an important market for distributed renewable energy adoption, driven by growing consumer awareness, increasing electricity demand, and a strong inclination towards sustainable living.”
The company said increasing electricity consumption, greater awareness of sustainability, and the need for long-term energy cost optimisation are promoting increased interest in rooftop solar adoption across Punjab.
The initiative aligns with the Centre’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, under which households can receive subsidies of 0.03 million for 1 kW systems, 0.06 million for 2 kW systems, and up to 0.078 million for systems of 3 kW and above.
Tata Power has also launched Mera Gaon, Mera Solar, a community-driven initiative aimed at increasing rooftop solar adoption across villages and semi-urban regions in Punjab.
