ThunderPlus has launched a 0.5 MW public EV charging station at Kovvur on NH-16, strengthening charging infrastructure along the Vijayawada–Visakhapatnam corridor in Andhra Pradesh.
Located at the entry and exit points of the Greenfield Highway, the charging station is situated within The Godavari Hub, a highway restaurant and stopover. The location allows EV users to charge their vehicles while taking a break during intercity journeys.
The station is open to passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and intercity electric buses. ThunderPlus has also arranged 24/7 power availability to support uninterrupted charging, particularly for electric buses operating on fixed schedules.
The company plans to increase the station’s capacity from 0.5 MW to 1 MW shortly. The expansion is expected to support growing EV traffic along the highway corridor and increase charging availability for long-distance travel.
The Kovvur facility is part of ThunderPlus’ broader strategy to develop charging hubs along major intercity routes in Southern India. The company is targeting locations that can serve passenger vehicles, commercial fleets, and electric buses travelling between key destinations.
