Toyota bZ Compact SUV Concept Revealed in U.S.

  • The Toyota BEV Concept made its world premiere at the LA Convention Center
  • A clean-vital design approach, eco-friendly interior and in-car personal agent among key features

Global automotive leader Toyota Motor Corp recently unveiled the Toyota bZ Compact SUV Concept at the opening of the 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show. The company extended the “future vision” under the ‘Toyota bZ’ brand umbrella.

Notably, the Toyota bZ Compact SUV Concept is designed as a full battery-electric vehicle, using a “clean-vital design” approach. This approach, the company pointed out, aims to express what’s special about BEV while also offering fun-to-drive, exhilarating performance. It further said that it represents a vehicle with zero emissions, utilizing eco-conscious interior materials (like seating made from plant-based and recycled materials), that also brings dynamic performance, leading technology and a stylish appearance. Interestingly, it has an in-car personal agent named ”Yui” which connects the driver and passengers with the vehicle.

Toyota group VP & GM David Christ stated: “We’ve only just begun to scratch the surface of the Beyond Zero moniker. With an aerodynamic design coupled with intuitive tech features never before seen in a Toyota model, the bZ Concept showcases another possible vision of the very near future with our battery electric vehicles.”

The official statement noted that Toyota plans to expand to around 30 dedicated BEVs globally, including five carrying the bZ (Beyond Zero) brand moniker. This diverse portfolio of electrified products will help propel Toyota toward its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. Interestingly, Toyota also launched its virtual education hub recently to help inspire the next-gen for a career in STEM-based fields, including mobility.

Envisioning a future in which carbon neutrality is achieved through the practical marketization of a portfolio of products with advanced, alternative-fuel and zero-emission powertrain technologies, Toyota follows the Beyond Zero theme. It aims to encourage people to diligently adapt their lives in the present to ensure a better future for all.
