Trina Solar has recently collaborated with five leading manufacturers: Astroenergy, Canadian Solar, Risen Energy, TCL Zhonghuan and Tongwei to launch 700W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance.
This alliance had been upgraded from 600W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance. It has an agenda to create uniformity in design and manufacture of 700W+ solar PV modules. It will help expand supply chain efficiency, boost production, and lower this module type’s costs.
PV manufacturers must adhere to established industry standards, including a module size of 2384mm x 1303mm and a module long-side vertical hole distance ranging from 400mm to 1400mm. The proposed standard has also introduced a hole distance of 790mm.
The PV sector has experienced significant progress in a relatively short timeframe, transitioning from the 600W+ era to the 700W+ era. This shift has been propelled by the rapid expansion of ultra-high-power and ultra-high-efficiency modules, featuring technologies like n-type high-efficiency cells such as TOPCon and HJT and 210mm large-format wafer technology.
This latest alliance has been made to encourage the evolution of PV technology. Its members aim to accelerate the industrialisation of the technology, thereby increasing production, reducing LCOE, building consistency across the entire industry chain, and maximising the value of solar PV in the long term.
