The Indian electric vehicle manufacturer plans to produce up to 500,000 units annually at its new automated facility in Hosur.
Electric vehicle pioneer Ultraviolette Automotive has unveiled plans to construct a major manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, to scale up production for Indian and international markets.
Dubbed the “BIGGA Factory” (Big Global Ambition), the new facility at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Shoolagiri will initially produce the company’s upcoming Tesseract electric scooter alongside future motorcycle and scooter ranges. Developed in phases, the plant will start with an annual capacity of 250,000 units, with the potential to scale to 500,000 vehicles per year.
The site is projected to generate roughly 2,000 jobs in its first phase, with employment expanding over the next five years.
The facility will incorporate Industry 4.0 automation, including collaborative robots for welding, assembly, and sorting, vision-based quality inspection, and digital tracking systems. The site will also feature a dedicated test track for pre-dispatch quality checks.
Supported by the Tamil Nadu government, the Hosur location was chosen for its proximity to established automotive supply chains and Ultraviolette’s research and development centre. The plant will operate in tandem with the company’s original manufacturing base in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
According to Ultraviolette’s product roadmap, the firm intends to broaden its lineup beyond performance motorcycles with two new electric scooters scheduled for launch from early 2027.
“The BIGGA Factory is a significant step… giving us the manufacturing capacity and infrastructure to scale Tesseract and our future products, while creating the ability to serve a much larger customer base in India and international markets,” said Narayan Subramaniam, Co-founder and Chief Executive of Ultraviolette.
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Niraj Rajmohan added that the Hosur hub provides significant supply-chain advantages, enabling the business to deliver vehicles to global standards while reinforcing India’s status as an EV manufacturing centre.
