Valeo Hits 20 Million Production Mark For Mobileye-Equipped Front Cameras

The company produces as many as 40,000 front cameras daily at its three facilities in Europe and China, serving 12 OEMs.

Valeo, a leader in advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), has reached a notable milestone by producing 20 million front camera systems featuring Mobileye technology, following their 10 millionth camera in November 2022. The partnership with Mobileye started in 2015, with Valeo incorporating Mobileye’s “EyeQ” system-on-chip (SoC) into its camera systems. This collaboration significantly advances driving assistance technology, enhancing computer vision in the automotive sector. Together, they have produced various front camera system generations, now focusing on integrating the latest Mobileye SoC with Valeo’s systems and advanced centralised computer and software.

These front camera systems, equipped with Mobileye EyeQ, boost road safety by supporting features like emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. They are crucial for meeting global safety standards, and by 2030, it’s expected that 90% of new cars will have advanced driver assistance technology.

Marc Vrecko, President of Valeo’s Comfort and Driving Assistance Systems Business Group, takes pride in this achievement, emphasizing Valeo’s dedication to efficient and accessible advanced technology. He remarks on the importance of front cameras for enhanced vehicle safety.

Nimrod Nehushtan, Mobileye’s Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development, reflects on the successful partnership and looks forward to the upcoming production of the next-generation Mobileye EyeQ6 system-on-chip.

With over 90% of road accidents attributed to human error, ADAS is key to safer and more comfortable mobility. The ADAS market is expected to grow 17% yearly, reaching 60 billion euros by 2030. Valeo, holding a diverse range of sensors, software, and intelligence, continues to pioneer in automotive safety technology. Alongside camera collaboration, Valeo and Mobileye have also announced a new partnership in software-defined imaging radars to enhance future driver assist and automated driving features.
