Valeo has secured a major contract from a leading Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer to supply its Valeo Smart Safety 360 (VSS360) platform, strengthening the adoption of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) across India’s automotive industry. The move reflects growing momentum toward safer mobility as regulatory pressure and awareness around road safety continue to increase.
The VSS360 system will be produced at Valeo’s Sanand facility in Gujarat, highlighting the company’s localization strategy aimed at delivering advanced yet cost-effective safety technologies tailored to Indian road conditions. Local manufacturing enables faster deployment while supporting the country’s push for safer commercial transportation.
India’s commercial vehicle segment is witnessing rising demand for ADAS solutions as fleet operators and manufacturers focus on reducing accidents and improving driver assistance capabilities. Designed for India’s dense and unpredictable traffic environment, VSS360 integrates multiple safety functions into a compact, single-unit architecture that simplifies installation and reduces system complexity.
The platform combines three radars and a smart front camera using advanced computer vision technology, eliminating the need for multiple electronic control units. Key safety features include Moving Off Information System (MOIS), Blind Spot Information System (BSIS), Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, and driver attention monitoring. The system also supports over-the-air software updates, allowing performance enhancements throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle.
A major advantage of the platform is Valeo’s Univolt Camera, compatible with both 12-volt and 24-volt electrical systems, enabling deployment across light commercial vehicles and heavy-duty trucks. This flexibility helps manufacturers adopt ADAS technologies more easily while meeting evolving safety regulations.
