The company also plans to expand into high-power motor and control systems rated at 570 kW
Vimag Labs has commenced operations at its first manufacturing facility in Met City, Jhajjar, Haryana, to manufacture and assemble motor and control systems, including its proprietary magnet-free motor technology. The company has already completed and exported its first production batch from the facility, marking its transition from technology development to commercial manufacturing.
The 10,000 sq. ft. facility, which can be expanded to approximately 20,000 sq. ft., is the first phase of Vimag’s manufacturing expansion in India. The company plans to invest around ₹50 crore across its manufacturing build-out, with capital deployment linked to customer programmes, production volumes and capacity requirements.
The facility is equipped with clean-room areas, digitally connected production systems, Industry 4.0 and IoT-enabled monitoring, traceability systems and automated production lines. The initial phase focuses on process validation, industrialisation and serial production of mid-power motor and control systems for electric mobility and other electrified applications.
“The commencement of manufacturing marks an important transition for Vimag from technology development and validation into industrialisation and serial production,” said Manish Seth, Co-founder and CEO, Vimag Labs. He added that the investment would be deployed in phases as customer demand and product requirements evolve.
Vimag is building its manufacturing system to scale up to a capacity of 10,000 motor and control systems per month as customer programmes grow. The company also plans to expand into high-power motor and control systems rated at 570 kW and above as customer requirements mature. This expansion will require additional manufacturing, testing and industrialisation infrastructure.
Beyond Jhajjar, Vimag is evaluating additional manufacturing locations and capacity while developing partnerships across India for manufacturing, supply chain, tooling and industrialisation. The company aims to establish an India-based production network that can serve both domestic and international customers.
As the manufacturing operations expand, Vimag expects to create approximately 100–150 direct and indirect employment opportunities across manufacturing, quality, testing, engineering, supply chain and operations. Local recruitment is expected to form an important part of its workforce expansion.
