Yulu Introduces EV Mobility Services In Noida, Plans Expansion In Uttar Pradesh

Yulu, a company specialising in shared electric vehicle mobility, has initiated its operations in Noida, targeting hyperlocal deliveries. This move enhances Yulu’s footprint in the Delhi-NCR area and is in line with Uttar Pradesh’s EV policy. The company also plans to broaden its services to other cities, such as Lucknow, Varanasi, and Agra, leveraging its franchise model.

Yulu, a company specializing in shared electric vehicle (EV) mobility, has recently expanded its operations to Noida, marking a significant step in its growth strategy across urban centers in India. The company has introduced its EVs in Noida primarily for hyperlocal delivery purposes.

This latest expansion brings Noida into Yulu’s growing network as the 11th city, and it’s the seventh city where Yulu has established a direct operational presence. Previously, Yulu launched operations in cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Delhi, Gurugram, and Hyderabad. Additionally, Yulu extends its reach through a franchise model, the Yulu Business Partner, which operates in cities like Indore, Kochi, Tirunelveli, and Pondicherry. This broader presence reinforces Yulu’s commitment to the Delhi-NCR region, a market it has served since 2019.

The economic dynamics of Noida and the increasing consumer demand for rapid commerce and food delivery services have created a fertile ground for Yulu’s EV-based mobility solutions. The company’s foray into Noida is also in line with the Uttar Pradesh EV Manufacturing and Mobility Policy that promotes the electrification of last-mile delivery logistics.

Yulu’s operational base in Noida is located at a new Yulu Centre in Sector 63, which will also act as a focal point for the company’s future regional expansion. The energy requirements for Yulu’s fleet are met through a partnership with Yuma Energy, a provider of battery-as-a-service (BaaS).

Looking ahead, Yulu plans to further its reach within Uttar Pradesh, considering potential expansions into other cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi, and Agra through its franchise model.

Yulu distinguishes itself as part of the burgeoning ‘shared mobility’ sector, offering consumers an app-based platform to access and use Yulu bikes for point-to-point travel. While Yulu’s EVs typically do not require a driver’s license for operation, in Noida, the company has strategically chosen to target business-to-business (B2B) applications, supplying bikes exclusively for e-commerce delivery.

The company’s strategy includes the use of IoT-powered vehicle technology, an AI-driven fleet management system, robust operational protocols, and innovative pricing models like kilometre-based rentals to appeal to users, particularly within the e-commerce sector.

With the exponential growth of e-commerce and quick-commerce in urban Indian locales, last-mile deliveries are a significant source of emissions, anticipated to contribute up to 8 million tonnes of CO2 annually by 2030. Yulu’s clean delivery solutions are crucial for reducing the carbon footprint of this sector and aiding delivery companies in meeting their sustainability objectives.

Yulu has collaborated with leading delivery companies like Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, and Blinkit to support their fleet electrification initiatives, recruit new riders, scale operations, and enhance operational efficiency, thereby affirming its position as a leader in India’s delivery EV market, facilitating four deliveries every second across its active markets.
